Oral Pathology Information from Dr. Swiderski
The inside of the mouth is normally lined with a special type of skin called mucosa that is smooth and coral pink in color for some and naturally pigmented for others. Any alteration in this appearance could be a warning sign for a pathological process. The most serious of these is oral cancer. The following can be signs at the beginning of a pathologic process or cancerous growth:
- Red of white patches in the mouth that don’t heal after two weeks.
- A sore that fails to heal after two weeks and bleeds easily.
- A lump or thickening on the skin lining the inside of the mouth.
- Chronic sore throat or hoarseness.
- Difficulty in chewing or swallowing.
These changes can be detected on the lips, cheeks, palate, and gum tissue around the teeth, tongue, face and/or neck. Pain does not always occur with pathology and is not often associated with oral cancer. However, any patient with facial and/or oral pain without an obvious cause or reason may also be at risk for oral cancer.
We would recommend performing an oral cancer self-examination monthly and remember that your mouth is one of your body’s most important warning systems. Do not ignore suspicious lumps or sores. Please contact us so we can help you.

My daughter was nervous but they took good care of her, and her recovery time was way shorter than we expected. My most favorite thing was that Dr. Swiderski took the time to call to call my daughter personally. Checking in to see if we had questions and to make sure she was recovering without complications. It's hard to find that kind of care these days!

Dr Swiderski is very well-trained and knowledgeable. He is very professional and efficient and has a caring attention to his patients that helps to make every procedure a positive experience. Having had three kids treated by him for the complete removal of all 4 impacted wisdom teeth, I think I can say he is extremely qualified and great at what he does!

Getting all 4 of my wisdom terth removed was actually very relaxing and I would do it again if I had to. The staff were very friendly and sweet. They made sure I had the laughing gas on enough so there was no pain with the IV and it was all pain free. Thank you so much. 🙂

My son needed his wisdom teeth taken out and the Dr. and his staff where fantastic. They took great care of my son and made him feel so comfortable with the whole situation. I really appreciated the follow up care as well. We felt very well taken care of.

Had oral cancer over 18 years ago and for past 10 years my teeth have been falling apart 1 tooth at a time. Now I am onto needing bone grafts...oh joy! Thank you for making it as painless as you could. BTW...thanks again for the 2nd water bottle.

Dr. Swiderski and his staff have assisted me through several procedures and really have set the bar professionally! How often does one have a procedure and then receive a phone call after hours to see how they are doing? Every time with Dr. Swiderski! 3 Molar removals and 2 implants later and I'm still impressed!

I was surprised at how easy Dr. Swiderski made the procedure feel. Bone grafts are not fun; but, I had support every step of the way to make it as easy as possible.
