Do I Need to Remove My Wisdom Teeth
Why Should I Have my Wisdom Teeth Removed?
Wisdom teeth are the last molars to form and erupt. They often times get stuck behind other teeth and cause problems. This is called impaction. Impacted teeth can cause pain, swelling and infections. They can damage other teeth. Rarely, they can have cyst or tumor associated with them. For these reasons and others, we recommend the removal of wisdom teeth, even though they may not be causing problems right now. Studies have shown the likelihood of having a problem with your wisdom teeth at some time during your life is high. If they are removed before they are fully formed, the likelihood of nerve injury is low and patients tend to recover faster.
