Immediate Dental Implants
This advanced technical process reduces your implant surgeries from 3 to 1, which means fewer office visits, faster healing times and even less cost.
The traditional approach to dental implant reconstruction often requires multiple surgeries with multiple office visits. Dr. Swiderski at Mid-Valley Oral, Maxillofacial & Implant Surgery can offer a different and better way. He can often extract the tooth, place the dental implant, provide bone grafting as necessary and place the tissue healing abutment all at the same appointment. You have one surgery instead of the traditional three. After four months of healing, most patients will be ready for the implant to be restored with a crown by their dentist.

The Traditional Approach
The traditional approach to dental implant reconstruction typically requires you have multiple surgeries on different days with multiple and sometimes additional fees. For instance, the tooth is extracted and the bony defect is grafted. This is followed by a minimum of four months of healing before the implant can be placed. Once the implant is placed, an additional four months of healing time for osseointegration is required. Some patients require the implant to be uncovered and a healing abutment placed with another three to four weeks of additional healing time before being ready to place the crown. The patient is then referred to their dentist who will make the crown over two to three appointments sometimes taking four to six weeks’ time.
The Immediate Implant Approach
With the immediate implant approach, patients enjoy life-changing results in fewer office visits, with faster healing times and even with less cost. Your visit will start with a cone beam CT scan, a 3D x-ray of the tooth which will be used to digitally plan the surgery and see if you are a candidate for an immediate implant.
In many cases, Dr. Swiderski can extract the tooth, place the dental implant and bone graft the site if needed. He can also place the tissue healing abutment at the same time thereby providing the three surgeries of extraction, bone grafting, implant placement with tissue healing abutment all at one appointment. The patient has one surgery, one four-month healing period and then is ready for the crown to be placed. This procedure can be used for front teeth as well as back molars.
Benefits to the patient
Fewer surgeries resulting in fewer office visits, less time off work, school and time out of their personal life. It may also result in some cost savings for patients who are a candidate for an immediate dental implant.
